Construction Monitoring

Construction monitoring involves:

  • Auditing of Base Build Specification agreed between our client and the developers and advising on improvements
  • Monitoring progress of work on site
  • Reporting on quality of work
  • Representing our client in the resolution of any problems that arise during construction

Crown House, Woking

A steel framed office block built speculatively and funded by a pension fund on whose behalf we undertook a design appraisal.

The floors were long span composite construction giving concern about floor vibration. Following our appraisal the developer agreed to increase the stiffness of some floor beams to reduce the potential of vibration.





King's Road, London

Located on the King's Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, The development is situated in 7½ acres of parkland. It comprises exclusive apartments and houses, including refurbished listed buildings and newly constructed properties with a total of 334 units.

Our role has been to monitor structural works for the developer for a construction contract worth in the region of £86m.





West Quay, Southampton

John Lewis hold one of the major anchor tenancies in the recently constructed West Quay shopping centre in Southampton.

Our role was to advise John Lewis from inception on the structural form provided by the developer and to monitor and report on work throughout the construction period.





Bishops Square, London

An eleven storey office block of 1 million square feet which we are appraising on behalf of the major tenant. We have been advising on design issues from the start of the lease negotiations and our involvement has resulted in a number of design modifications to the benefit of our client.





Barclays Bank

Canary Wharf, London

Hurst Peirce and Malcolm were employed to provide base build design assessment and construction monitoring for the main tenant of a 1 million sq.ft. 33 storey tower block at Canary Wharf. This is believed to be the first time that the construction of a building on the Wharf has be independantly monitored and it is considered to our client to have been well worthwhile to protect his interests.
